Program or Intervention Summary

Link to Hope is a community helper training created for the purpose of raising awareness and knowledge of suicide and suicide prevention primarily for non-clinical workforce within an industry, but also for community members in general. Link to Hope learning objectives are to: (a) provide relevant information on suicide and warning signs, (b) raise awareness of suicide prevention by recognizing that everyone can have a role in preventing suicide, (c) describe the three Rs (Recognize, Respond, Refer) in suicide prevention, and (d) identify tips and resources to help someone in suicide distress. Through this virtual or in-person training, participants will be able to increase knowledge about how to recognize the ways in which a person thinking about suicide often invites help, either directly or indirectly, build competence in approaching and connecting with that person to ask openly and directly about suicide, and improve efficacy in the ability to support someone if they acknowledge that they are thinking about suicide. Link to Hope essential components include a didactic training presentation with an evaluation parallel to training implementation, including pre- and post-surveys.
