Bridges link neighborhoods and provide safe passage at dangerous crossings. Community-based suicide prevention efforts can be just like those bridges, connecting people and supporting them during times of struggle. SPRC wants to hear what you need to prevent suicide in your community—to establish and maintain your “bridges”—so that we can best support you.

SPRC has been working closely with communities, states, Tribes, and organizations for many years. We provide expertise, guidance, and broad-level support for those working at every level of suicide prevention. In 2024, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services updated the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention (National Strategy) to guide, motivate, and promote a coordinated approach to suicide prevention at all levels.

Following last year’s release of the updated National Strategy, SPRC has launched an assessment to help us better understand the suicide prevention needs of communities across the country. This needs assessment will help us, and our state and national partners, learn about the steps communities are taking to prevent suicide and how the National Strategy is guiding their efforts. It’s open to everyone impacted by and working to prevent suicide.

We encourage you to take part in this critical assessment and share it with your colleagues, volunteers, and community partners. No matter your level of familiarity with the National Strategy or years of experience in suicide prevention, we want to hear from you! Your anonymous responses to this assessment will inform the development of resources to support all those working to advance suicide prevention in our country.

Help shape the future of suicide prevention and take SPRC’s needs assessment today. We look forward to hearing from you!
