Ireland’s National Office for Suicide Prevention (NOSP) has launched its first suicide prevention communications campaign, called Little Things. Twenty partner organizations in mental health and suicide prevention collaborated to create the campaign, which features three 40-second animated videos. The narrators of the videos speak from their personal experiences and describe the “little things” that have helped them get through stressful periods. Based on the country’s statistics for suicide risk, the campaign is designed especially to reach men aged 19-44. The NOSP has engaged celebrities, including the Taoiseach [prime minister], to contribute their own “little things” to the campaign’s Facebook and Twitter conversations, where mental health professionals will be on hand to respond to posts as needed.
