Suicide Risk Assessment Toolkit

SPRC’s Suicide Risk Assessment Toolkit is designed to help social workers and other behavioral health clinicians conduct effective suicide risk assessment. The toolkit contains the following downloadable resources:

  • Suicide Risk Assessment and Managing Liability in Social Work Practice – This document offers an overview of suicide risk assessment to enrich suicide-specific educational initiatives in MSW programs and practicums. It can also serve as a guide for early career social workers seeking to enhance and expand their skill set in this critical area.
  • Suicide Risk Assessment Resource Guide – This self-study tool can help equip behavioral health clinicians with the knowledge and skills to conduct effective suicide risk assessment. The guide serves as a continuing education resource for graduate students, early career clinicians, and experienced practitioners seeking to bolster their competency. Click here for additional resources.
  • Clinical Practice Scripts for Suicide Risk Assessment in Social Work Practice – These clinical practice scripts serve as a bridge between the overview and resource guide described above. Designed for clinical social workers who conduct suicide risk assessments with clients, the scripts emphasize the importance of client-centered care and ethical considerations.
