Framework for Successful Messaging

Hello readers! We’re back with another installment in our new series on safe messaging for suicide prevention. This week, we’re highlighting our go-to resource—the Framework for Successful Messaging (Framework)!

Developed by the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention (Action Alliance), the Framework is a research-based tool that outlines four key considerations for messaging about suicide prevention:

  1. Start with strategy.
  2. Develop safe messaging that avoids harmful content.
  3. Promote a positive narrative.
  4. Follow relevant guidelines.

The Framework is designed for anyone developing public communications about suicide prevention, including researchers, prevention practitioners, mental health advocates, and people with suicide-centered lived experience.

Not only is the Framework a go-to resource for SPRC, it’s recommended in the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention as a science-backed communication tool.

Check out the Framework today and look for more tips on safe messaging coming soon!
