The Intersection of Suicide Research and Public Health Practice: Suicide and Veterans, the second webinar in a webinar and conference call series from the Injury Control Research Center for Suicide Prevention (ICRC-S), took place on February 13, 2013. The webinar is designed for researchers and state or local practitioners in injury or suicide prevention. It features discussion of the scope of the problem of suicide among our nation’s veterans and approaches that the Veterans Administration takes to reduce suicide. The webinar also provides information about the Statewide Advocacy for Veterans’ Empowerment (SAVE) program of the Massachusetts Department of Veterans’ Services.

Presenters for this webinar are Robert Bossarte, Acting Associate Director and Chief for Epidemiology and Interventions Research at the VISN 2 Center of Excellence for Suicide Prevention at VA Medical Center at Canandaigua and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Center for the Study and Prevention of Suicide (CSPS) at the University of Rochester; Alan Holmlund, Director of the Suicide Prevention Program in the Massachusetts Department of Public Health; and Cheryl Lussier Poppe, Deputy Secretary for Programs, Services and Personnel in the Massachusetts Department of Veterans’ Services. The webinar was moderated by Julie Goldstein Grumet, Director of Prevention and Practice for Suicide Prevention Resource Center.
