The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released new data in its Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR). The data show that suicide rates in nonmetropolitan/rural counties were consistently higher than rates in metropolitan counties between 2001 and 2015. These trends are also observed by sex, race/ethnicity, age group, and mechanism of death.
