News Type:  Weekly Spark, Weekly Spark Announcement

A coalition of mental health experts and entertainment industry leaders recently released the Mental Health Media Guide, a resource to help content creators develop accurate and authentic mental health portrayals. The best practices and evidence-based recommendations in this interactive tool aim to support storytellers in crafting narratives that reduce stigma, promote prevention, and encourage help-seeking. The guide includes information on a wide range of mental health topics, including a section on suicide prevention that was informed by the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention’s (Action Alliance) National Recommendations for Depicting Suicide. Join us in changing the conversation about mental health and suicide prevention by helping to ensure content creators are aware of this resource.
