Following Logic’s performance at this year’s Grammy Awards, calls to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline tripled. At the music awards show, the rapper performed his hit song “1-800-273-8255,” which is titled after the crisis hotline’s phone number and encourages people to reach out for help if they are struggling. Individuals with lived experience of suicide joined him on stage, wearing t-shirts that read, “You are not alone.” Lifeline call volume went up 50 percent after Logic performed the song at the MTV Video Awards last year, and tripled for two hours after the Grammys. “Logic’s performance during the 2018 Grammys was an incredible moment in suicide prevention,” said Lifeline Director of Communications Frances Gonzalez. “By sharing a message of hope and taking the stage with individuals who have been personally affected by suicide, Logic demonstrated on a global scale that healing is happening every day for people in crisis, and that there is help available.”
