Facebook Teams with The Trevor Project to Help Prevent LGBTQ Youth Suicides

Facebook has announced that it is partnering with The Trevor Project to prevent suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth. Over the next few months, the social media site will roll out access to resources from The Trevor Project, a national nonprofit that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ young people. Facebook currently offers a variety of crisis support and mental health services through its messaging app, in collaboration with organizations such as the Crisis Text Line, National Eating Disorder Association, Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, and National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. In 2016, Facebook made suicide prevention and mental health tools available on its platform, including access to support groups and options to report posts of concern related to self-harm.
