CDC QuickStats: Homicide and Suicide Death Rates

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released national data on homicide and suicide death rates among people ages 15 to 19 between 1999 and 2016. The data show that between 1999 and 2010, homicide rates were higher than suicide rates in this population. However, since 2011, suicide rates have been higher than homicide rates.
