CARF International has announced the release of a complimentary resource for health and human service providers titled Quality Practice Notice on Suicide Prevention. This resource is applicable for providers serving a wide range of populations and age groups. Outlining a first-steps framework for health care professionals to assess, intervene in, and monitor suicidal behavior within their respective scopes of practice, it provides information and resources for acquiring specific competencies for preventing suicide, including training, screening and assessment tools, and safety plan development. For CARF-accredited service providers and programs, this resource also includes a section highlighting the areas of the standards that address suicide prevention.
