American Association of Suicidology Statement on Firearms and Suicide

The American Association of Suicidology (AAS) has released a statement on firearms and suicide. AAS recognizes that access to firearms is a risk factor for death by suicide, promotes means safety as a method for lowering the national suicide rate, and supports collaborative relationships between the suicide prevention field and the firearms community.
