Adherence to Suicide Reporting Guidelines by News Shared on a Social Networking Platform

The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) has published a study evaluating news shared on Facebook for adherence to the suicide reporting recommendations. It found more than 60 percent of articles did not include recommended reporting elements. Closer adherence to the recommendations was associated with higher reader re-shares and positive engagement.
