Sally Spencer-Thomas
Dr. Sally Spencer-Thomas is an experienced psychologist, speaker, podcaster, and impact entrepreneur based in Colorado. As a suicide loss survivor, Dr. Spencer-Thomas is the co-founder and president of United Suicide Survivors International, a nonprofit organization for survivors of suicide attempt and suicide loss.
Dr. Spencer-Thomas’ work in suicide prevention incorporates men’s mental health issues. She has helped create mental health advocacy campaigns for men, such as Man Therapy, an award-winning initiative to address mental health for working-age men and Guts, Grits & the Grind, a men’s mental health anthology book series.
Previously, Dr. Spencer-Thomas worked on developing national guidelines for workplace suicide prevention. She has also held positions at the International Association for Suicide Prevention, the American Association of Suicidology, and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. She has received multiple awards, including the AAS Survivor of the Year Award (2014), the Invisible Disabilities Association Impact Honors Award, Alumni Master Scholar from the University of Denver, the International Association for Suicide Prevention’s Farberow Award, and the 2016 Career Achievement Alumni Award from the University of Denver Graduate School of Professional Psychology.
