Kristen Smith
Kristen Smith, PhD, is a public health consultant and the program coordinator for the Preventing Suicide in Michigan Men (PRiSMM) Program at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, which is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Comprehensive Suicide Prevention Program. She oversees the program’s day-to-day grant activities and leads suicide prevention efforts for adult males across the state of Michigan.
Dr. Smith has been working in the field of mental health and substance use disorder and suicide prevention for over a decade as a licensed clinical social worker, program administrator, and certified safeTALK and Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk trainer. She earned a PhD in interdisciplinary health sciences from Western Michigan University with a focus on the evaluation of health and human services programming, health policy, and health administration.
