James R. Dixon
James R. Dixon (he/they) is a Black youth suicide prevention coordinator with the Behavioral Health Division of the Multnomah County Health Department in Portland, Oregon. They also work as a senior clinical research associate and psychedelic peer support facilitator at the Social Neuroscience and Psychotherapy (SNaP) Lab, which supports veterans with PTSD and substance use disorder. Dixon brings their lived experience as a Black and queer individual, suicide attempt survivor, and United States Air Force veteran to their work.
Dixon is committed to promoting equity and inclusion by focusing on practical solutions that break down barriers and improve access to trauma-informed care. In addition to being a storyteller, Dixon is a mental health practitioner who prioritizes creating positive change for those facing mental health challenges.
In their role as a Black youth suicide prevention coordinator, Dixon is dedicated to empowering and supporting all youth through a culturally responsive lens. They are driven by their passion to make a difference and ensure the well-being of young individuals in their community.
