A Look Back at SPRC Highlights in 2019
January 03, 2020
In 2019, SPRC was grateful to provide critical support for suicide prevention efforts across the country. Throughout the year, we continued to roll out trainings in effective prevention, with more than 30,000 individuals completing an SPRC online course and nearly 1,000 participating in one of our webinars. We also expanded our efforts to inform, engage, and share resources with the field, reaching more than 14,500 Weekly Spark subscribers and 25,000 Twitter and Facebook followers.
This year, we were honored to earn multiple acknowledgments for the quality of our products. SPRC’s Campus Virtual Learning Lab: Prevention Planning Module, Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM), and The Patient Safety Screener (PSS-3): A Brief Tool to Detect Suicide Risk in Acute Care Settings each won two bronze Omni Awards. Our CALM course also earned a bronze Digital Health Award.
In 2019, we developed numerous resources, including videos on strategic communication planning and addressing the root causes of suicide in tribal communities. We also released the nation’s first-ever state suicide prevention infrastructure recommendations, as well as a toolkit to help organizations engage people with lived experience. To highlight examples of effective suicide prevention efforts, we released the Prevention in Practice: Success Stories from the Field and Zero Suicide Outcome Stories.
