VIRGINIA: Virginia’s 40 Mental Health Clinics to Offer Walk-In Evaluations
April 05, 2019
Virginia’s mental health clinics now offer walk-in evaluations. The state’s 40 clinics provide government-funded behavioral health and developmental services, including access to state hospitals. In an effort to reduce wait times, the clinics will offer same-day mental health evaluations and schedule follow-up appointments within 10 days. “When someone makes the decision to seek treatment for behavioral health issues, we have an obligation as public health providers to make that process as efficient and accessible as we can,” said Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services Commissioner S. Hughes Melton. “Same-day access fulfills this goal by delivering the right health care at the right time in the right place.”
