Applying to the SPRC Best Practices Registry

The BPR is a one-stop source for suicide prevention programs and interventions. It is guided by a vision of expanding access to a broad selection of programs and interventions (including upstream approaches) that use different types of evidence.

To implement this vision, we need you! We’re seeking applications from programs and interventions that incorporate national frameworks, best practices, and community-informed approaches, as well as upstream strategies to prevent suicide risk before it starts. We invite you to apply and help spread the word.

BPR Eligibility Requirements for Programs and Interventions

  • Be ready for others to implement (i.e., include adequate implementation materials and instructions)
  • Demonstrate alignment, as applicable, with one or more suicide prevention frameworks (i.e., National Strategy for Suicide Prevention, SPRC’s Comprehensive Approach to Suicide Prevention, National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention’s Mental Health Media Guide)
  • Be able to demonstrate achievable, defined outcomes
  • Provide evidence of meeting minimum standards related to safety protocols and imminent risk

The BPR application asks programs and interventions for the following information:

  • Type of program or intervention
  • The group for which the program or intervention is intended and a description of how this group was consulted during program or intervention development, implementation, and evaluation efforts
  • Information about implementing the program or intervention (instructions, requirements, and setting)
  • Training or education required to implement the program or intervention
  • Cost to implement one instance of the program or intervention
  • Materials related to the program or intervention such as the program manual, training manual, and/or presentation slides
  • Intended outcomes of the program or intervention
  • Types of evidence used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the program or intervention
  • A detailed description of logic model(s), assessment instruments and measures used, and evaluation findings and their impact
  • Description of the program or intervention’s efforts to reflect positive messaging, safe messaging language, and community-informed approaches in all materials and messaging
