Young Adults Ages 18 to 25 Years
Suicide is one the leading causes of death among young adults (see Scope of the Problem section). Recognizing the importance of addressing the suicide problem in this population, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has provided grants to support suicide prevention in campus, state, and tribal communities since 2005. The Garrett Lee Smith (GLS) Suicide Prevention Program has shown reductions in both attempts and suicide deaths in this age group.
