Suicide Trends among and within Urbanization Levels by Sex, Race/Ethnicity, Age Group, and Mechanism of Death — United States, 2001–2015

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released new data in its Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR). The data show that suicide rates in nonmetropolitan/rural counties were consistently higher than rates in metropolitan counties between 2001 and 2015. These trends are also observed by sex, race/ethnicity, age group, and mechanism of death.
